Bonnie May
Jul. 3—Yvonne "Bonnie" J. (Phelps) May, age 93 of Adams, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Cedar Court Assisted Living.
Bonnie was born in 1930 in Jefferson, Iowa to Harold and Eleanor (Murphy) Phelps. In 1947, she married Raymond May at St. Joseph's Church in Jefferson, Iowa. They moved to rural Adams, Minnesota in 1953. After raising eight children, Bonnie went to work for the Southland School district for many years. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams for over 60 years. Bonnie loved reading, puzzles, playing cards and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 55 years, Ray; and son, Bill.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vonnie (Ray) Abbott, Omaha, NE; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve (Laurie) May, Rochester, MN, Tom May, Stewartville, MN, Ron (Karen) May, Rochester, MN, Jim May, Watertown, MN, Roger (Jani) May, Northfield, MN, and Richard (Becky) May, McGregor, MN; daughter-in-law, Donna May, Albert Lea, MN; 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 6th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams with Father James Berning officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sacred Heart Catholic School.
The Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
