Boy, 8, fatally stabbed in Queens; suspect shot and killed by police: NYPD

JAMAICA, Queens (PIX11) – Police officers fatally shot a man accused of stabbing an 8-year-old boy to death in Jamaica on the Fourth of July, according to the NYPD.

It happened at an apartment on Sutphin Boulevard, per police. A 29-year-old woman was seen on surveillance video running out of the home after she was stabbed in the back, screaming for help.

A man allegedly held his 42-year-old father at knifepoint over a kitchen sink after fatally stabbing the 8-year-old boy, according to authorities. He refused orders in both English to drop the kitchen knife he was holding, per police.

Officers fired a single shot at the suspect, which killed him, according to authorities.

An 8-month-old baby girl was rescued by officers from inside the apartment, per police. She was physically unharmed.

The boy was stabbed more than a dozen times, EMS sources told PIX11 News.

The woman and the 42-year-old man were hospitalized for their injuries. The relationship between the boy and the suspect is not clear, according to authorities.
