Bridgewater-Raritan announces high school student dies

The Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District has announced that a high school student has died.

In an email to students, parents and guardians, the district said it had learned of the death on Monday evening.

"We are unable to give out any specific details of the student or the circumstances, though we expect that the news will be shared within our community," the email said. “As a school, we express our condolences to the family and friends of this student."

The district announced counselors will be available throughout the school day at the high school.

If a child needs help to process their grief or just someone to listen, parents are asked to encourage them to visit the high school's counseling office.

The district assured students and parents that the resources of the school district and Somerset County are available to them.

Parents and guardians may contact the counseling office at 908-231-8660 ext. 477203 with any questions.

"In this very sad time, it is important that we pull together to support one another," the email said.
