Recent summer temperatures have us feeling nostalgic for our younger days, so we took a deep dive in the Detroit Free Press photo archives looking to rekindle those summer vibes from the 1990s.

From making friends at summer camp to visiting one of many Michigan art fairs or good times on Belle Isle, summer just brings on all the memories.

Major IT outage takes out banks, airlines and businesses across the world
Businesses across the world are reporting IT outages, including Windows "blue screen of death" errors on their computers, in what has already become one of the most widespread IT disruptions in recent years. The outage — linked to an update rolled out for widely used security software made by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike early on Friday — has affected computers running Microsoft Windows at companies across various sectors, from airlines, banks, food chains and brokerage houses, to news organizations, and railway networks. CrowdStrike's chief executive, George Kurtz, confirmed that a defective content update for Windows hosts had caused the outage, noting that Mac and Linux hosts were not impacted.

The company on Friday reported that its revenue declined by 36% and its loss more than doubled in the first quarter as it continues to grapple with a regulatory clampdown that has significantly curtailed business at its payments bank subsidiary. Once the poster child of India's startup ecosystem, Paytm's loss widened to $100 million in the first quarter ended June, while revenue shrank to $179.5 million from $280 million a year earlier.

J. Michael Cline, the co-founder of Fandango and multiple other startups over his multi-decade career, died after falling from a Manhattan hotel, New York’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information tells TechCrunch. Upon arrival, "officers found an unconscious and unresponsive male with injuries indicative of a fall from an elevated position," the Deputy Commissioner said in a statement emailed to TechCrunch.
