Brooklyn couple arrested in fatal stabbing of 37-year-old man: police

A man and a woman were taken into custody Friday following a bloody clash in a Brooklyn apartment building that left a 37-year-old man dead and the couple refusing to surrender, police said.

Cops were called around 8 a.m. to the 28th floor of a 30-story high-rise on Sands St. near Jay St. in downtown Brooklyn, where the victim had been stabbed in the torso.

When officers arrived, the stabber and his girlfriend ran to another apartment and barricaded the door, preventing the cops from getting inside, a police source with knowledge of the case said.

After a brief dialogue, the couple surrendered, cops said.

EMS rushed the victim to New York Presbyterian-Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, but he couldn’t be saved. His name was not immediately disclosed as police tracked down the man’s family.

The alleged stabber and the suspect’s girlfriend were taken into custody for questioning. No charges were immediately filed.

The stabbing took place inside 90 Sands, which supplies long-term, supportive housing for the formerly homeless, according to the building’s website.
