Cañon City Fire deploys to “Hurricane Fire” in California

(CAÑON CITY, Colo.) — On Sunday, July 14, the Cañon City Area Fire Protection District reported that Engine 163 was deployed to California to assist with the “Hurricane Fire” near Bakersfield.

According to the Fire District, crews were put to work immediately after arriving and were assigned to night operations.

The Hurricane Fire is located near Hurricane Road in San Luis Obispo County. The fire started on Saturday, July 13, and is reported to be at 12,703 acres as of Tuesday, July 16, and is 95% contained.
