Calhoun Community College to offer free construction training classes

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — Calhoun Community College is offering free construction training courses to community members who may be interested.

The course offers two sessions, the first session is taking place on July 8-12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. located at Calhoun’s Decatur Campus in Workforce Solution Building #8.

This session will focus on heavy equipment training.

The skills being taught in the first session include the following:

  • Skid steer

  • Bulldozer

  • Excavator

  • Asphalt Roller

You must be 16 years of age or older to participate.

The second session will focus on heavy equipment along with CDL Class B training. This session will take place on July 8-26 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. located at Calhoun’s Decatur Campus in Workforce Solution Building #8.

The skills being taught in the second session include the following:

  • Class B Learner’s Permit

  • Base Driver’s License

  • DOT Physical, Medical Certificate

  • DOT Drug Screening

You must be 18 years of age or older to participate. Officials also want potential participants to know that there are only 10 spots left for the second session at this time.
