Camp Robinson hosts summer sea cadet training camp

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Little Rock Division of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets is teaching youth to be model citizens with a week of hands-on military training.

Many cadets from 10 to 18 years old from across the state and central Arkansas volunteered at Camp Robinson for this service.

Leaders say they’ve been teaching integrity, respect, honor and teamwork with hopes that trainees like Prosperity Williams will apply them in real life.

“What we’re doing today is to learn about how to be a master at arms in any career,” Williams said.

Each cadet is provided a hands-on experience with the option of joining the United States armed forces.

It’s a week of training 15-year-old Williams said she’ll be putting to use.

“I’m going to Naval Academy or Coast Guard Academy and then afterwards I’m going to start my career in the military as an officer,” William said.

And she isn’t the only one aiming to build a career from this, over 100 cadets have chosen to make this their reality after graduating high school, with a choice to be a part of any branch they choose.

“There’s a lot of need out there and people need to understand that it’s just about service in a uniform, but it can be service to the community as a whole,” Sea Cadet Lt. Carey Monaghan said.
