Incumbent Democrat Rep. G.A. Hardaway faces a primary challenge this year for the Tennessee House District 93 seat. In November, the winner will face Renarda Renee Clariett, the only Republican to qualify for the ballot.
The district cuts an arc through multiple Memphis neighborhoods.
Democratic primary
G.A. Hardaway (incumbent)
Hardaway has held office since 2007, first in the District 92 seat and then in the District 93 seat since 2013. If reelected Hardaway said some key priorities for his campaign include further pusuing blended sentencing legislation, bail reform and improvements to Tennessee public schools.
Lashanta Rudd
Rudd has been active with mulitple community organizations and also works as a substitute teacher and a mental health life coach. She said a desire to see new representation in Nashville led her to run and listed key priority areas for her campaign as gun control and public safety and rasising the state minimum wage.
Republican primary
Renarda Renee Clariett
Clariett did not not appear to have an active campaign website and did not respond to questions from The Commercial Appeal about priorities if elected.
