Carthage child dies in boating accident on Table Rock Lake

Jul. 28—A Carthage child was killed in boating accident at Table Rock Lake on Friday, the Missouri Water Patrol reported.

At 11:11 a.m. Friday, the unidentified child, age 6, a male, was riding a kneeboard behind a boat in Clevenger Cove, south of Hollister in Taney County.

After the child fell off the board, the driver of the boat turned around and went back to him. The victim was swimming toward the boat and was caught by its propeller while the boat was in reverse, the patrol reported.

The child was pronounced dead by the Taney County Deputy Coroner. The body was taken to Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home in Branson.

According to the patrol, Bethan Roy, 31, was operating the boat.
