Celebrating Independence Day in Hazleton

HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/YOU) — The Fourth of July celebrations are still going strong across northeastern Pennsylvania.

Hundreds got into the patriotic spirit for an annual Independence Day celebration.

We aren’t done celebrating Independence Day quite yet! Fourth of July celebrations continued at City View Park in Hazleton.

A fireworks display filled the sky to cap off a day of fun.

A crowd sprawled out all over the lawn and in the bleachers at City View Park Saturday night for a fireworks display to light up the holiday weekend.

“It’s beautiful, it’s really nice,” said Kathrine Ramos from Hazleton.

Chillie cheese dogs, smash burgers, and perogies are more than a dozen food vendors with cookout staples.

Ramos says it’s more than she’s ever seen at the annual event.

“It looks like they got more food trucks and more events,” added Ramos.

Festival games, bull riding, and live entertainment from Leighann and Company.

It was a perfect event to come together with family for Danielle Logan.

“I know family doesn’t get together all the time so just a big family event for us,” says Logan.

Ramos and her family say Independence Day is a great excuse to be with each other and should be celebrated more than one day out of the year.

“It’s really nice to spend time with your family and it’s really nice to spend time out,” stated Lianese Ramos from Hazleton.

“This is a great holiday here. It’s Independence Day we have to celebrate it no matter what. It can be any day, the 10th, or the 9th, but we came here to celebrate it,” continued Ramos.

Independence Day celebration is considered the biggest event of the year for Hazleton and wrapped up the city’s Fourth of July celebrations this year.
