After nearly three years of selling boutique wine at the Worcester Public Market, Canal District Wines, 160 Green St., announced that it will close to the public today. The women- and LGBTQ+-owned business announced on its website and social media accounts that it was unable to reach a lease-renewal agreement with the market. Opened November 2021, shop owners Rachel and Olivia Scanlon started their business after noticing how often they needed to venture out of the city to stock up on bottles. The Scanlons said they wished all the other businesses at the Worcester Public Market "great success."

A biopharmaceutical company with headquarters in Germany expanded its Maple Avenue location with a third production line this month, investing more than $70 million to increase manufacturing capacity. The development is the largest expansion in Rentschler Biopharma’s 150-year history, expanding the Milford location from 93,000 square feet to 138,000 square feet. Rentschler, a contract development and manufacturing organization for biopharmaceuticals with headquarters in Laupheim, Germany, held a groundbreaking in August 2021 to increase the size of its Milford location. The company bought the property in 2019, where it tests and manufactures drug products that developers would need produced.

On the same grounds where Table Talk Pies once did business for over 100 years, since May tenants have been walking in and out of an 83-unit affordable-housing apartment building known as District 120. The completion of District 120 marks the end of a three-phase project, originally the brainchild of Boston Capital, a developer that bought the former Table Talk Pies property in January 2022 for $4.55 million with the intent to develop it into housing. Located at 120 Washington St., the building’s units are scattered across seven stories, with six studios, 28 one-bedroom units, 44 two-bedroom units and five three-bedroom units.

The developer behind the private portion of the Polar Park redevelopment has submitted a bid to host the state police's Central Massachusetts crime lab in a Green Island parcel. Denis Dowdle of Madison Properties confirmed that a bid was submitted for a parcel at 10 Green Island Blvd. According to the request for proposals, the state is seeking approximately 180,000 to 200,000 usable square feet of space that could be used for a laboratory, evidence storage, office, records storage and meeting space. The term would be for 20 years, with two 10-year extension options.

Two years after a fire killed four people inside a building at 2 Gage St., and the ensuing criticism the property owners faced from city officials, the property has been sold to a new owner. According to records with the Worcester Registry of Deeds, the entity that owned the property sold it to Nicholas Granata-Cappabianca for $170,000. The deed was recorded June 28. Granata-Cappabianca acquired the property individually, not through a limited liability company. He purchased it from 2 Gage Worcester LLC, a corporate entity with prior property owner Huanchen Li listed as the resident agent.
