CHP recovers $50,000 in stolen goods from Northern California warehouse
(FOX40.COM) — The California Highway Patrol recently announced the recovery of nearly $50,000 worth of stolen goods after tracking the shipment to a warehouse in Northern California.
CHP said its investigators learned of the stolen shipment after being contacted by a distributor who reported a “fictitious pick-up,” which is a tactic used by people attempting to steal cargo by pretending to be a legitimate shipping company and booking cargo without following security protocols.

Once the cargo is picked up, the thieves will change the shipment’s location to a place where they can sell the stolen goods to unsuspecting buyers, CHP said.
“In this case, the stolen cargo originated in Utah and was destined for Pennsylvania, however, once it was determined that the shipment had made its way to California, CHP was contacted,” the agency said on Facebook.

CHP worked to track the shipment until the stolen goods ended up in a warehouse in Sacramento where officers recovered and returned the products to their rightful owner.
“In total, 26 pallets loaded with Blackstone products were recovered, valued at over $46,000,” CHP said. “The investigation into the theft of these products is ongoing, however, the recovered products were safely returned to the company.”
