City of East St. Louis warns residents to avoid these areas during flash flooding

East St. Louis officials are asking residents to avoid nine areas of the city during the current heavy rains and flash flooding.

Here is a list from the city’s Facebook page:

  • 53rd and Summit

  • 26th and Baker

  • South 8th Street

  • 102 Riverpark Under Path

  • North 47th St.

  • 53rd - 59th and Belmont

  • 63rd and State

  • 19th-25th and. Bond

  • 33rd & Missouri Avenue

“Please use extreme caution if traveling in these areas or plan an alternate route,” the post states. “If you encounter flooding roads turn around, don’t drown. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.”
