Coast Guard rescues 3 boaters stranded on Lake Michigan
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Three boaters stranded on Lake Michigan are OK after a U.S. Coast Guard Crew from Air Station Traverse City came to the rescue.
The Coast Guard was notified on Saturday morning of a 25-foot vessel that had lost its steering about 2 nautical miles north of Manistee Harbor.

“The helicopter crew arrived on scene, safely brought all three adults aboard the helicopter, and transported them to Manistee Airport where they were then transferred to local EMS for evaluation,” the USCG Great Lakes District said in a social media post.
The USCG Cutter SPAR was also sent to assist because of the inclement weather.
USCG shared the story as a reminder for all boaters to check their equipment and conditions before heading out onto the water.

“Remember to check your vessel, check the weather, and above all else value your and your friends’/family’s safety over a risky day on the Great Lakes,” the post read.
