Colorado Deputy Collapses After Fentanyl Exposure

A Colorado deputy collapsed after being exposed to fentanyl while taking a suspect into custody on Tuesday, July 23, the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said.

The deputy and her partner had taken a suspect into custody and found “suspected fentanyl pills and paraphernalia” after responding to a call of an “unwanted person” at a gas station.

Bodycam footage released by the sheriff’s office shows the moment the deputy fell to the ground before her fellow officer rushed to her side. The second deputy administered Narcan, a drug used to treat narcotic overdoses, the sheriff’s office said.
