Columbus woman dies in Pickaway County crash

LOCKBOURN, Ohio (WCMH) – A Columbus woman is dead after a car crash in Pickaway County Sunday afternoon.

According to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at approximately 3:37 p.m. on US Route 23 North just south of Weigand Road.

A 2012 Mazda MZ6 was traveling north on US-23 when it drove off the west side of the road, overcorrected, and shot across the road and off the east side of the road, the sheriff’s office said. The Mazda then rolled several times, ejecting the driver and one of the two juvenile passengers.

The driver, Jerri L. Braswell, 32, of Columbus, was thrown from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. Two children in the car, ages 9 and 11, were taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in stable condition.

The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Harrison Township Fire and EMS, Scioto Township Fire and EMS, Circleville EMS, Jackson Township Fire Department, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The crash remains under investigation.
