Coroner confirms ID of inmate who died at Kern Valley State Prison
The Kern County coroner's office on Thursday confirmed the name of the inmate who died June 28 at Kern Valley State Prison in Delano.
An investigation into the death of Dwight A. Gibbs, 24, who was unresponsive at 8:06 p.m. and died at 9:10 p.m. at Adventist Health Delano, is underway.
An autopsy is to be done to determine the cause and manner of Gibbs' death.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation on Monday said three inmates serving terms of life in prison without parole are suspected of killing him.
