Central Ohio residents have multiple opportunities to celebrate Independence Day this week with firework shows, including the area's signature Red, White & Boom! event; but bad weather could get in the way.

What will Columbus weather be on July 3?

Several Columbus suburbs will host fireworks displays on Wednesday evening, the same day as Red, White & Boom! The National Weather Service reports that there is a good chance for rain that day.

The NWS forecast calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. on Wednesday with temperatures expecting to top at 94 degrees. The chance of precipitation for Wednesday is 40% as of mid Sunday. More rain and thunderstorms are likely in the evening with a projected low temperature of 74 degrees. Chance of precipitation for Wednesday night is 70%.

Could Red, White and Boom! be rescheduled for weather?

According to the event's website, the organizers will make every effort to have the show Wednesday night up until midnight. If weather prevents that from happening, however, the fireworks show will be canceled.
