Crash victim airlifted after Tesla plummets 200 feet off Highway 46 in north SLO County

A crash that sent a blue Tesla plunging 200 feet down a steep hill in northern San Luis Obispo County resulted in significant injuries to both of the vehicle’s occupants.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s Traffic Incident Information page, at around 3:10 p.m., CHP and Cal Fire received reports of the vehicle crash off of the eastbound lane of state Highway 46.

According to the CHP page, the vehicle was far enough down the steep cliff face that it wasn’t easily visible from the roadway.

According to a post on X by Cal Fire, firefighters recovered two patients from the scene of the crash.

One patient suffered moderate injuries and transported by ambulance to a hospital, while the other was airlifted to the hospital.
