Criminal charges after Washington Township crash injures driver, two children

WASHINGTON TWP. — An Audubon man faces criminal charges after a single-vehicle accident that injured him and two children in his vehicle.

Sean Asman, 31, was driving an auto that struck a utility pole off Hurffville Grenloch Roadnear Quay Park, according to Washington Township police.

Two juvenile passengers were unsecured in the car when the crash occurred around 5:50 p.m. on July 18, authorities said.

Each child suffered a broken arm, while Asman broke his leg, according to a probable cause statement for charges against the driver.

The children were flown to Cooper University Hospital, Camden, police said.

Asman also was transported to Cooper.

Police also said a bottle of whiskey was found in the vehicle.

Asman is charged with driving while intoxicated, along with two counts each of assault by auto and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

The charges are only allegations. Asman has not been convicted in the case.
