Officials and riders gathered for a “breakfast and a bus ride” event on Wednesday in Berlin so that community members could learn about the new route. The added route is arriving just in time for the holiday season.

“It provides an opportunity for those who don’t have their own vehicles in Meriden and New Britain to have career opportunities,” Chris Edge, director of economic development in the town of Berlin, said. “It was a two and a half year effort, they reconfigured all the bus lines in Central Connecticut — and really the goal is to be able to get people to not just viable employment but to help them and their families, potentially generationally.”

They said that ridership is growing among those who use the service.
