Last week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a recall of cucumbers sold at Walmart stores in three states. This week, the government agency announced that the original recall has been expanded to include additional stores, states, and varieties of produce. The FDA now reports that “out of an abundance of caution, Wiers Farm Inc. of Willard, Ohio, is expanding its July 12 recall to include additional produce because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.” There have been no reported illnesses to date.
The produce involved in this expanded recall was packed between July 5 and 12 and was distributed in 18 states: Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia at select grocery stores (see list below) in those states.
