Delaware man wins $300,000 in lottery scratch-off game

A 68-year-old Clayton man won the first $300,000 top prize playing the Mega Bucks Blowout scratch-off game in the Delaware Lottery.

The man, who chose to remain anonymous, bought the ticket at the Goose Creek store in Felton and claimed his prize from state lottery headquarters July 12, said Helene Keeley, director of the Delaware Lottery, in a July 25 press release.

The winner said he’s been playing the Delaware Lottery for about 20 years.

When he saw he had won, his first reaction was joy and he immediately shared the news with his friends, Keeley said.

The money will allow him to afford medical procedures he’s been waiting to get, and he plans to use the rest to buy a truck for work, pay down bills and save some “for a rainy day.”

“We are thrilled to congratulate our latest $300,000 Mega Bucks Blowout winner,” Keeley said. “It’s always rewarding to see our players experience such joy and to know that their winnings will positively impact their lives.”

Two $300,000 top prizes remain in that game.
