Deltona woman in love-triangle murder sentenced to 35 years in prison
A Deltona woman was sentenced Friday to 35 years in prison for her role in a love-triangle murder of a man she was seeing on and off.
Jaide Caporale, 34, pleaded to second-degree murder for her part in the slaying of 30-year-old Jo'el Cosby.
Caporale was charged with first-degree murder, which carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison, but pleaded to the lesser charge as part of her agreement which called for a sentencing range of 20 to 35 years.
Circuit Judge A. Kathleen McNeilly sentenced Caporale to the maximum term in the plea agreement, according to the State Attorney's Office.
Marvin Bryant, 40, was sentenced to life in prison in June after a jury convicted him of first-degree murder in the slaying of Cosby,
Cosby’s body was found Aug. 12, 2020, in Geneva, east of Sanford.
Caporale had dated Cosby on and off for several years. She was the last person seen with him Aug. 9, 2020, in Sanford, according to the State Attorney’s Office.
The next day, Caporale drove Cosby to a house in Deltona where she lived with Bryant.
Bryant stabbed Cosby multiple times in the head and torso. Then Bryant and Caporale dumped his body in Geneva.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement made a "positive match" between Cosby and blood samples found in the back seat of the rental car Bryant and Caporale were using, according to the State Attorney's Office.
Seminole and Volusia sheriffs' office detectives uncovered an extensive amount of digital and forensic evidence during a four-month joint investigation, according to the State Attorney’s Office.
Assistant State Attorney Andrew Urbanak prosecuted the case.
“Love triangles never turn out good. This one turned deadly,” State Attorney R.J. Larizzasaid after Bryant was convicted and sentenced in June.
