Deputies arrest a third teenager in killing of 18-year-old Coachella man

Riverside County sheriff's deputies arrested a third teenager on Tuesday who is suspected of fatally shooting an 18-year-old Coachella resident in August.

Deputies responded to reports of shots being fired in the 84-900 block of Calle Rojo in Coachella around 10:34 p.m. on August 28, the sheriff’s department said in a press release. They found Isaac Gonzalez, 18, of Coachella, in the road with gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.

The sheriff’s department said homicide investigators identified several suspects for the murder. They arrested 18-year-old Coachella resident Fabian Diaz and a 17-year-old Coachella resident on October 25. On Tuesday, they arrested a 16-year-old Coachella resident in Ontario.

Authorities did not release the 16-year-old or 17-year-old suspects' identities because they are both minors.

Diaz was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for murder, robbery, and conspiracy. The 17-year-old and 16-year-old suspects were booked into juvenile hall for murder, robbery, and conspiracy, the sheriff’s department said.
