It's numbers like you've never seen before!

OK, maybe that's an exaggeration, but former President Donald Trump is gaining momentum on social media.

Trump, the Republican nominee for president, gained 1,097,256 Instagram followers since an assassination attempt in late July, according to research by social media marketing experts at Viralyft.com using Social Blade and TikTok Creative Center to analyze the social media follower increase and engagement.

It's been a busy week away from social media for Trump too.

Attempted assassination of Donald Trump

On July 13, the former president was shot during an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. He survived, but suffered an injury to his ear.

Then, after he headlined the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, he watched his opponent, President Joe Biden, announce he would no longer seek re-election.

Vice President Kamala Harris is now the Democratic nominee.

According to the study, Trump gained popularity on TikTok with the hashtag #Trump picking up three billion views, #DonaldTrump gaining four billion and #Trump2024 grabbing one billion in the past seven days worldwide.

“Former U.S. President Donald Trump saw a massive spike in his social media following, gaining 1,097,256 new followers after being hit in the ear by a bullet at a Republican rally in Pennsylvania and with Joe Biden withdrawing from the US election race," said Director of Viralyft Thomas Moore.
