Jul. 23—ST. CLOUD — Former President Donald Trump and running mate J.D. Vance will be coming to St. Cloud on Saturday, July 27.

The duo will rally at 7 p.m. at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, according to a post on Trump's campaign website. Doors will open at 3 p.m., and attendees must register for tickets online to attend.

This would be Trump's first visit to Minnesota since an assassination attempt against the former president at a campaign rally on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump's ear was struck by a bullet, and one spectator was killed and two others injured, according to media reports. The suspect was shot and killed by law enforcement.

On Tuesday, July 23, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheattle announced she plans to resign from her post in the wake of the assassination attempt.

President Joe Biden on Sunday, July 21, announced he would not seek a second term in office. He has endorsed his vice president, Kamala Harris, to succeed him as the Democratic nominee for president.

This would be the first candidate visit to St. Cloud during this election cycle. Harris visited New Flyer of America in St. Cloud in February 2023, as part of a promotion of electric vehicles by the Biden administration.

In a statement, St. Cloud State said: "The Trump campaign is renting Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. Through the years, St. Cloud State University has served as a rental venue for political rallies across the political spectrum. As a public university, SCSU does not endorse or affiliate itself with any candidates."

Fluence Media analyst Blois Olson broke the news of the Trump/Vance ticket's Saturday visit in his Tuesday morning, July 23, Lunch Take newsletter.

"Sources tell lunch take former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Senator J.D. Vance, will visit St. Cloud on Saturday," Olson wrote.
