Supporters of Donald Trump rallied in Fort Myers on Saturday after an assassination attempt against the former president.
Over the years, his backers have filled auditoriums and arenas in Southwest Florida after Trump announced he was running for president nearly a decade ago.

Trump visits Fort Myers just weeks before 2020 election
Then-President Donald Trump spoke to an invitation-only crowd of about 400 at the Caloosa Sound Convention Center and Amphitheater in downtown Fort Myers on Oct. 16, 2020.
He was courting seniors and announced he had reached a deal with major pharmacy chains to distribute free COVID-19 vaccines, once they become available, to nursing homes.
"I am thrilled to announce that we have just finalized the partnership with CVS and Walgreens, places you know pretty well, I guess, to immediately deliver the vaccine directly to nursing homes at no cost to our seniors,” Trump told the crowd.
Trump speaks at 2018 rally in Hertz Arena
At a MAGA rally on Halloween night nearly six years ago, Trump touched on a variety of topics in Hertz Arena in Estero.
“If you want low taxes and low crime, vote Republican. It's an election between greatness and gridlock," he told his supporters.
Trump also addressed border security, a common theme during his 2020 reelection campaign.
"The wall is being built," he said. "We're getting prepared for the caravan, folks, you don't have to worry about that."

Trump spoke for a little less than an hour Sept. 19, 2016, at Hertz (then called Germain) Arena, focusing on his key campaign issues such as vowing to repeal Obamacare.

A month after visiting Estero, Trump's helicopter touched down at the Collier County Fairgrounds, where he spoke Oct. 23, 2016.
Then 17 and a Palmetto High School student, Saide Battle said she was too young to vote but wanted to have the Trump experience.
“I want to witness greatness,” she told the Daily News. “And to see our next president.”
