Dozens of storage units damaged in fire on Parker Road

DENVER (KDVR) — Multiple units at a commercial storage facility near Centennial were damaged in a two-alarm fire Sunday.

South Metro Fire Rescue, Aurora Fire Rescue and the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the fire at a Public Storage located at 5212 S. Parker Road.

When crews arrived, the fire was coming through the roof. SMFR said a second alarm was dispatched throughout the building.

The sheriff’s office closed northbound Parker Road in the area while firefighters worked to stop the blaze.

Once the fire was under control, crews began the mop-up process, putting out any leftover hotspots and checking other units for possible fire spread, SMFR said in a post on X.

Officials said 32 units were directly impacted by the fire, which traveled through the attic of the building, and 48 were damaged by smoke and water.

SMFR said no injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
