Driver charged in fatal motorcycle crash in Hartford

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A Hartford woman faces multiple charges in connection to a deadly crash that happened in May, according to police.

Hartford police arrested 37-year-old Ingrid Galarza Thursday and charged her with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, second-degree assault, operating without a license, failure to renew registration, insufficient insurance and improper turn.

On May 26, police responded to the intersection of Zion Street and Harbison Avenue for a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV.

The operator of the motorcycle, 20-year-old John Marrero of Hartford, and the 22-year-old female passenger of the motorcycle were found on the ground with severe injuries, according to police. Marrero died the next day from his injuries.

Police said Galarza remained on scene and suffered minor injuries.
