Duke Energy lineworker dies in northwest Charlotte neighborhood
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Duke Energy employee died Wednesday afternoon in northwest Charlotte, the utility company confirmed.
According to local authorities, the incident involving a lineworker happened around 3:45 p.m. in the 6900 block of Wandering Creek Drive. The person was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic paramedics; the cause of death is unknown at the time.

“Our hearts go out to our teammate’s family and fellow coworkers,” Duke Energy officials said in a statement. “We are currently investigating the incident to learn more and ask for privacy for the family at this time.”
There is no criminal investigation related to the death, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said.
As of 6:25 p.m., there were 1,100 Duke customers without power in the vicinity of the death. All were restored by 7 p.m.
