Eastern Carolina preparing in case of storms next week

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Inland and coastal areas of Eastern North Carolina are training and putting preparations in order in case of severe weather this upcoming week.

Pitt County is making sure they’re ready in case shelters and emergency operation centers need to be activated.

“We anticipate areas that may flood. Usually in Pitt County, it’s as a result of two areas or two types of flooding,” Pitt County EMS Planner Tyler Rhodes said. “River flooding that usually floods in areas that, you know, sees repeating flooding issues from previous storms and then flash floods. Those are usually in our urban areas near like large streets, large parking lots. Those areas that see the quick rise of flash flooding in those urban areas.”
