Elgin police shoot, kill dog shot attacking owners

ELGIN, Ill. — Elgin police say a man and woman are recovering from serious injury after their dog began assaulting them late Thursday afternoon.

Around 4:50 p.m., officers responded to a home near Worth Avenue and High Street for an animal complaint.

Arriving officers witnessed the dog attacking its owners.

According to police, one officer shot and killed the animal when it became clear it wouldn’t stop.

Police did not release the names of the victims.

Elgin police say the man and woman were both hospitalized with serious but non-fatal injuries.
