(KRON) — Elon Musk clarified on Monday that he is not donating $45 million per month to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. The Wall Street Journal previously reported that the billionaire had said that he would make the donations to a political action committee (PAC) supporting Trump.

Musk set the record straight in an interview with author Jordan Peterson on Monday.

“What’s been reported in the media is simply not true,” Musk said. “I am not donating $45 million dollars a month to Trump.”

What Musk did do was create the “America PAC,” which he described as an organization that can receive funding to be used for a political candidate. The amount of money that can be directly donated to a candidate is limited, so a PAC provides a way around it.

“There are various rules that govern the operations of PACs and Super PACs, but it certainly allows for a lot more money in the system than would otherwise be possible,” Musk said.

While Musk has not been shy about his support of Trump in recent weeks, he said he is not “MAGA,” but rather “MAG,” which he said stands for “Make America Greater.”

The America PAC was established in Texas in May. In the interview with Peterson, Musk did not say how much money he poured into the PAC.
