FRAMINGHAM The Logan Express station near Shoppers World is getting a major upgrade.

The Framingham Logan Express station is undergoing a renovation that will see its garage expanded by three levels and about 1,000 parking spaces. Shuttle frequency to and from Boston Logan International Airport will increase from every 30 minutes to 20-minute intervals.

The Massachusetts Port Authority, the state agency that runs Logan Airport, released plans to expand the Framingham facility, as well as move the Peabody Logan Express to a new and larger space in Danvers, in a press release on Thursday.

In a statement, state Senate President Karen Spilka said Logan Express "is an essential service for our region," shuttling thousands of people who for various reasons would prefer not to drive into Boston.
