Euro-NATO pilot training program and SAFB wing talk strategy

Leadership from the 80th Flying Training Wing and Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training gathered Wednesday for strategic planning at MSU Texas, according to a media release.

The meeting at the Dillard College of Business Administration allowed leadership from the U.S. and senior national representatives from the 14 nations governing ENJJPT to streamline the wing’s strategic plan, as well as update its mission, vision statements and priorities.

“The operational environment that surrounds ENJJPT has fundamentally changed within the last five years," Col. Jeffrey Shulman, 80th FTW commander, said in the media release. "By reassessing our mission and vision and aligning our efforts with current and future threats, we will ensure that ENJJPT remains the cornerstone of NATO’s combat air power for decades to come."

Leadership updated the ENJJPT mission statement during the meeting to “We train NATO's fighter pilots” and the vision statement to “Be the world’s premier fighter pilot training program."

Wing representatives identified strategic issues hindering the execution of the ENJJPT mission and focused on solutions impacting the wing over the next two years.

“We now have a two-year plan with a six-month evaluation, a clear mission and vision, and established priorities to address emerging threats,” Lt. Col. Stephen Bailey, 80th FTW chief of staff, said in the media release. “This streamlined strategic plan empowers our airmen to find solutions and overcome challenges.”

A tenant at Sheppard Air Force Base, the 80th FTW plays host to the world’s only internationally manned and managed pilot-training program.
