Every candidate elected unopposed in the Lee County 2024 elections
More than 100 candidates including a county commissioner and two constitutional officers were elected or reelected when the qualifying period for Lee County county, city and district offices ended at noon last Friday.
The qualifying period is a set time frame where candidates can officially register to run for office. This year, it ran from noon on Monday, June 10 to noon on Friday, June 14.
Lee County Supervisor of Elections updated the list of qualified candidates for the 2024 General Elections. Here is a list of the candidates who were elected by default because they ran without opposition. You can see the full list of candidates at www.lee.vote/.
Lee County Commissioner, District 1
County Commissioner District 1 - Kevin Ruane (REP)
Ruane, the incumbent, will serve another term as County Commissioner for District 1 which represents Sanibel and parts of Cape Coral. He is one of five County Commissioners that serve as the legislative and governing body of Lee County.
Lee County constitutional officers
Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller - Kevin C Karnes (REP)
Karnes, the incumbent, will continue in his role as Lee Clerk.
The clerk is responsible for nearly 1,000 duties designated by the Florida Constitution and Statutes including safeguarding the integrity if court records, managing jurors, maintaining case evidence and processing public case documents.
Tax Collector - Noelle Branning (REP)
Branning, also the incumbent, was reelected when no one filed to run against her.
Apart from the collection of property taxes, the tax collector also oversees driver license and ID card issuance, vehicle registration, hunting and fishing licenses and concealed weapon licenses.
Municipal elections: Fort Myers and Bonita
City of Fort Myers Ward 6 - Darla Bonk
Bonk will serve as Ward 6 for the City of Fort Myers. She is one of six councilmembers that sit on the Fort Myers City Council.
City of Bonita Springs District 4- Chris Edwin Corrie
Corrie will serve as the District 4 representative for the City of Bonita Springs. He is one of six councilmembers that sit on the Bonita Springs City Council.
