ExxonMobil donates to fire relief efforts

Jul. 2—ExxonMobil gave $100,000 for fire relief efforts in southern New Mexico.

The company announced Tuesday it donated to the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico to support recovery efforts from the South Fork and Salt Fires.

The South Fork fire burned 17,569 acres and the Salt Fire burned 7,939 acres, according to the New Mexico Fire Information website. They were 77%, according to the most recent update.

The fires devastated the community and destroyed or damaged 1,300 structures.

ExxonMobil New Mexico announced that it provided $100,000 to the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, which is raising money for fire relief efforts.

"Our hearts go out to all the families affected by this tragedy and the brave first responders working tirelessly on the front lines," the company said on its Facebook page. "We are committed to standing by the communities where we operate and contributing to the area's recovery and resilience."

The foundation has created the Greatest Needs Impact Fund for Lincoln and Otero counties for immediate and long-term recovery efforts.
