F-15 Eagle fighter jets to fly over Salem and Mt. Angel on Memorial Day
The 142nd Wing from Portland Air National Guard Base will conduct flyovers for Memorial Day ceremonies Monday at locations throughout northwest Oregon and southwest Washington, including Salem and Mt. Angel.
All passes by the F-15 Eagle fighter jets will be approximately 1,000 feet above ground level and about 400 mph airspeed. Flights could be canceled or times changed due to inclement weather or operational contingencies, according to a press release from the Oregon Military Department.
“We support the Memorial Day flyovers to honor the great men and women who have given their all in defense of this great nation,” said Lt. Col. Brad Young, 142nd Wing instructor pilot and 142nd Operations Support Squadron Commander. “We hope that conducting the requested flyovers from community organizations is additive to their ceremonies commemorating those who have lost their lives in service to this nation.”
