The loved ones of 35-year-old Jeneva Salazar said she was a loving friend, sister, and daughter. “She was goofy, fun, and she loved her family,” is how some of Salazar’s family described her.

The family is looking for answers after they said her body was found near Harper and San Mateo on June 16 in the middle of the night. A witness told police, they saw a woman hit by a dark two-door vehicle before it fled the scene.

Salazar’s family and friends acknowledged she has struggled with substance abuse but said she was beloved by many, and her life mattered. Her death came just days before her 36th birthday. “We want answers. There’s a lot of questions we have that just don’t make sense to us,” said Cynthia Madrid, Jeneva Salazar’s mom.

On Friday night, they held a vigil to remember her and bring attention to what happened. The family said if anyone knows anything about what happened to contact police.
