A 53-year-old man and his motorcycle caught fire after colliding with another vehicle Tuesday. The woman driving the other vehicle fled the scene as the man and motorcycle burned, Loveland police say.

A Loveland Police officer in the area and two City of Loveland employees pulled the man from the burning motorcycle, and the police officer used a fire extinguisher to douse the flames on the man, according to a Loveland Police press release. The officer attempted life-saving measures on the rider but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Although the other driver fled the scene, witnesses took photos of the vehicle and license plate, according to police. Police determined the other vehicle was a 2010 Ford Fusion and they determined it to be driven by Brooke Anderson, 46, also a Loveland resident.

The police say their investigation showed Anderson "was traveling West on 1st Street. Ms. Anderson was behind another vehicle in the left turn lane to go South on North Taft Avenue. Ms. Anderson went around the vehicle in front of her in the left turn lane and turned left from the wrong position. The motorcycle crashed into the passenger side of the Ford Fusion and ignited into flames."

Loveland police officers arrested Anderson and accused her of vehicular homicide, reckless driving and failing to remain at the scene/give information and/or aid after an accident involving death.

Formal charges did not show in online court records as of 4 p.m. of June 24.

The release says anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have information is asked to call Loveland Police Department Tip Line at 970-962-2032 or Larimer County Crime Stoppers at 970-221-6868.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in court. Arrests and charges are merely accusations by law enforcement until, and unless, a suspect is convicted of a crime.
