FBI captures ‘dangerous’ fugitive wanted for rash of armored car robberies in suburbs

CHICAGO — A fugitive wanted by the FBI for his alleged role in a string of armored car robberies in the south suburbs has been captured.

Aveon Wilson, described by FBI Chicago Daniel Broeckelmann in a sit-down interview with WGN-TV as a “very dangerous individual,” remained at large following his alleged involvement in at least seven armored car robberies that date as far back as October 2022:

  • Oct. 7, 2022 – Chase Bank at 3115 Ridge Rd in Lansing; armored car employee held at gunpoint

  • Oct. 21, 2022 – US Bank at 1350 Sibley Blvd in Dolton; armored car employee held at gunpoint

  • Dec. 29, 2022 – Fifth Third Bank at 4137 W 167th St in Country Club Hills; employee held at gunpoint

  • Feb. 5, 2023 – Bank of America at 4211 W 167th St in Country Club Hills; armored car employee held at gunpoint

  • March 4, 2023 – 14225 95th Ave in Orland Park; armored car employee held at gunpoint

  • April 12, 2023 – Brinks armored truck at 1968 Sibley Blvd in Calumet City; armored car employee held at gunpoint

  • April 12, 2023 – Loomis armored truck at 2330 173rd St. in Lansing; armored car employee held at gunpoint

Following Wilson’s arrests, all 10 suspects with ties to a group known as the Perry Avenue Boys are now in custody following several alleged crimes, including a shootout caught on camera in front of Walmart shoppers in Country Club Hills.

Authorities said Wilson had ties to South Chicago, Gary and Indianapolis. The FBI offered up to $20,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction.

FBI Chicago announced the arrest on Monday.
