Felony charges filed against 2 teens accused of beating, robbing 14-year-old boy at gunpoint

CHICAGO — Felony charges have been filed against two teen boys accused of beating and robbing another teen at gunpoint on the city’s Far North Side over the weekend.

According to Chicago police, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy have each been charged with one felony count of armed robbery and one misdemeanor count of battery. The 16-year-old is facing an additional felony charge of unlawful use of a weapon.

Neither teen has been identified by police due to their age.

Authorities say the charges stem from a violent robbery that unfolded around 5 p.m. on Saturday in the 5100 block of North Sheridan Road in Uptown.

Officers say the teens allegedly approached a 14-year-old boy in the area before beating him and robbing him at gunpoint.

Authorities caught up with the teens less than an hour after the alleged robbery and they were taken into custody in the 5000 block of North Winthrop Avenue and 1100 block of West Winona Street.
