Fire at Fond du Lac city parks storage garage causes extensive damage

FOND DU LAC – A city parks department storage garage at 650 N. Main St. sustained extensive damage after a fire Monday evening.

Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue was dispatched to the fire shortly before 6 p.m. June 24 after it was called in by a passerby.

When fire crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and fire showing from the front and side of the large storage building.

The department said the fire was knocked down quickly after crews forced entry, but not before the contents of the building and the building itself sustained extensive damage.

The building was not occupied, and no injuries were reported.

The department said the cause of the fire is under investigation. Fond du Lac Police assisted with scene management and traffic control.

Road closure: Hickory Street in Fond du Lac between Forest Avenue and North Division Street is closed until end of day Tuesday
