TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — It’s a big week for President Joe Biden’s political future.

“This week is the week, make or break, Joe Biden,” Political Expert Tara Newsom said.

Nate Silver calls for Biden to resign after ‘incoherent’ comments in ABC interview

Newsom believes First Lady Dr Jill Biden can’t save him. Monday afternoon, the first lady plans to launch Veterans and Military Families for Biden in Tampa.

“I’m not sure Jill Biden coming to Tampa Bay or coming to Florida is going to do anything to turn that ship around,” Newsom said.

Still today, there are concerns after the president’s debate performance. On NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday, a Democratic congressman had some advice for the commander-in-chief.

“He should seek out people with some distance and objectivity,” Rep. Adam Schiff said. “He should seek out pollsters who are not his own pollsters. He should take a moment to make the best-informed judgment, and if the judgment is run, then run hard and beat that s.o.b.”

On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump plans to hold a campaign rally in Miami. Newsom said his campaign is likely worried about abortion access and recreational marijuana being on the Florida ballot.

“Sixty-five percent of all Latinos in Florida, no matter how they identify, all support reproductive rights,” Newsom said. ”He knows he has a real vulnerability when it comes to abortion rights.

The former president may also announce his running mate soon. Reports said Sen. Marco Rubio is a finalist. On Meet the Press, a Republican senator from Ohio said unlike Democrats, Republican voters are not concerned about the top of the ticket.

“Whoever his vice president is, he’s got a lot of good people he could choose from. It’s the policies that worked and the leadership style that worked for the American people. I think we have to bring that back to the White House,” Sen. J.D. Vance said.

If it is Rubio, the 12th amendment bars state electors from choosing two people from the same state. Newsom said the Florida senator may have to make a life-changing choice.

“Rubio could take the big gamble and go ahead and resign from being a US Senator and move out of state but that’s a tough pill to swallow,” Newsom said.

It’s unclear if Biden will hold a campaign event in Florida. Typically, campaigns only release those details days ahead of the event.
