First Responders Recognize John Fetterman After Car Crash

Several first responders were surprised to find that one of the people involved in a June car crash in Maryland was Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman, footage released by the Maryland State Police shows.

In the bodycam footage, first responders can be heard discussing the crash with each other and surveying the aftermath.

“The black car is actually I think the senator of Pennsylvania, that real big tall guy. They just ran into that red car,” one says. “Witness said he was flying,” another officer replies.

Another first responder said he recognized Fetterman as soon as he walked up. “In 20 years of doing this I’ve never had a politician,” he can be heard saying.

A police report said Fetterman was traveling at a high speed when he rear-ended another car on June 9, according to reports.

Fetterman, his wife, and the other driver were all treated for minor injuries, according to reports. In a video he posted to X the day after the incident, Fetterman and his wife said they are “great,” and thanked people for the “well wishes.” Credit: Maryland State Police via Storyful
