Five people face charges in kidnapping of teen near Leander

Five people were arrested in connection with the kidnapping and shooting of a 17-year-old boy on July 3, the Williamson County sheriff's office said in a press release.

Deputies were alerted to his kidnapping after receiving a 911 call from a local hospital, where the boy was being treated for his wounds.

The teen, who was not identified by the sheriff's office, told deputies he was lured to a home outside the Leander city limits, where he was attacked and beaten, the release said.

He was later taken to another location, where he was shot by Matthew Sabedra, 19, of Georgetown, deputies determined, and then abandoned. He was treated for his injuries that were not life-threatening and released from a hospital, the release said.

Sabedra was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service and faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated kidnapping.

Tobias Rogers, 19, of Liberty Hill; Logan Humphries, 19, of Leander; Danyelle Marsh, 36, of Round Rock; and Nathanial Walker, 17, of Round Rock, were also arrested between July 11 and July 16. All face charges of aggravated assault, jail records show, with all but Walker also facing charges of aggravated kidnapping, the release said.
