9 people wounded in Bronx and Brooklyn in 10-hour burst of gun violence

Nine people were wounded during a burst of gun violence in Brooklyn and the Bronx in a blood-soaked 10-hour span, police said Tuesday.

The mayhem began about 3:45 p.m. Monday when two teens and a 26-year-old man were hit with gunfire and ended about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday with a 43-year-old woman shot twice in the leg, police said.

The first shooting of the day took place at Nostrand Ave. near Rutland Ave. in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, in which two boys, ages 16 and 18, and a 26-year-old man were wounded, cops said.

The 18-year-old and the 26-year-old were both struck in the abdomen. The youngest victim was hit in the shoulder and back, police said.

Medics rushed the 18-year-old to SUNY Downstate Medical Center in stable condition. The other victims were rushed to Kings County Hospital in stable condition, cops said.

The mayhem continued less than four hours later in the Bronx, where two women — one 28, the other 29 — were wounded in a drive-by shooting on E. 165th St. near Third Ave. in Morrisania about 7:30 p.m., police sources said.

Cops found the older victim with a gunshot wound to her left thigh, police said. The younger woman was struck once in the right leg and once in the right arm.

Medics rushed the pair to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition. Responding officers took two people into custody at the scene, but no charges were immediately filed.

The violence continued after midnight Tuesday when a 21-year-old man was shot in the left hand during a clash with three masked suspects a block away from the Prospect Park Parade Grounds on Crooke Ave. near Woodruff Ave. in Flatbush, according to police.

The suspects, who were wearing ski masks, ran off following the 12:30 a.m. shooting. One was wearing a gray Nike sweatshirt.

Cops recovered two shell casings at the scene. The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was treated and released.

About 40 minutes later, a gunman opened fire during a sidewalk celebration on Sutter Ave. and Mother Gaston Blvd. in Brownsville.

A 64-year-old man was shot in the right leg and a 35-year-old man was hit twice in the left leg and once in the right arm. Both were taken to Brookdale University Hospital.

It was not immediately clear if the gunman was aiming for the two men or spraying wildly into a crowd of people standing there during the 1:10 a.m. shooting, cops said. Several discarded beer bottles were found at the shooting scene.

The violence ended at about 1:40 a.m. when a man in a white shirt and black pants opened fire on a woman on Rochester Ave. near Lincoln Place in Crown Heights, hitting her twice in the right leg.

The woman was taken to Kings County Hospital, where she’s expected to recover.

No arrests have been made in any of the shootings, cops said.

As of Sunday, shootings in the city had dropped by 10% this year compared to the same period last year. Cops have investigated 521 shootings this year, compared with 579 incidents by this time last year.
