Flash flood warning issued for parts of upstate NY
The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a flash flood warning for parts of Western New York as storms roll into the area from the Midwest.
The flash flood warning is in effect until 8:15 p.m. for:
East central Erie County
Southern Genesee County
Northwestern Wyoming County
The Weather Service warning comes after Weather Service radar detected thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rain across the warning area, with 1.5 to 2 inches of rain falling. An additional half-inch of rain is possible for the region, with flash flooding ongoing or expected to begin soon.
A second flash flood warning until 9 p.m. was issued for:
Southeastern Genesee County
Northern Livingston County
Southern Monroe County
Northwestern Ontario County
Northeastern Wyoming County

The Weather Service recommends not attempting to cross flooded roads; most flood deaths happen in vehicles. Find an alternate route when driving through hilly areas where roads may have low water crossings.
